What is Toner, anyway
Today we are talking toners. What do we even use toner for? We know that our cleanser removes all the dirt from our pores and washes off excess oil and pollutants, and we know that moisturiser rehydrates your skin- but why do we need toner?
You may remember, if you first started you skin care routine years ago, that toner used to make your face feel dry and tight, and it stayed like that until you used your moisturiser. That’s because it was originally created to help create your skin’s pH balance, given that most cleansers were soap based and disrupted the balance of skin.
Now, your toner is a whole new product that leaves your skin feeling fresh and hydrated. Here’s why we use toner today:
1. Cleansing - One of key reasons we use toner is to complete the cleansing of your skin — removing the dust, pollution, and impurities that can still be lingering in your pores after washing with a cleanser, as cleansers usually contain ingredients such as oil, which can leave a film on your face.
2. Hydrates - Toner re balances your skin barrier, helping to promote healthier skin revealing new, fresh, healthy skin.
3. Minimise the look of large pores - Anyone can have large pores, but they're most common on an oily or combination complexion. Toner sweeps away dead skin cells trapped within the pores and minimises the appearance of pores. This makes your skin look smoother.
We hope we have helped you have a clearer understanding of toners and what they do - definitely add it to your skincare routine if you haven’t already!
