1. What is the pH level in Proactiv® Solution products?
The pH balance in the Renewing Cleanser is 4.7-5.2; in the Revitalizing Toner it is 3.0-4.0; and in the Repairing Lotion it is 4.7-5.2
2. Is Proactiv® Solution safe and effective if a person is in direct sunlight?
A sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15 is recommended when out in the sun and while using the Proactiv® Solution system. Apply the Proactiv® Solution Cleaner, Toner and Lotion first and then apply the sunscreen over it. Re-apply sunscreen as needed.
3. What is the preservative level in Proactiv® Solution?
The preservative level in Proactiv® Solution products is less than 1%.
4. What percentage of Glycolic acid is in the Revitalising Toner?
5%
5. Are the Proactiv® Solution products gluten-free?
Yes.
6. What TYPE OF GRAIN (or BEAD) is used in the Renewing Cleanser?
Polyethylene beads.
7. Why is Xantham Gum in the Renewing Cleanser?
This ingredient is used as a “thickener/stabilizer” in our Renewing Cleanser, like an emulsifier.
8. Why is Disodium Dimethicone Copolyol Sulfosuccinate in the Renewing Cleanser?
It is a mild cleansing agent.
9. Why is dandruff referred to as being associated with oily scalp vs. dry scalp?
It is still not really decided. However, it is caused by one’s local environment, stress, genetics, weather environment/conditions or other major factors.
10. Why does Proactiv® Solution use Benzoyl Peroxide instead of Salicylic Acid in the Renewing Cleanser and Reparing Lotion? What is the difference between the two?
We believe that Benzoyl Peroxide is the best OTC anti-bacterial agent for acne and is more effective in treating and preventing acne. Salicylic Acid is also used to prevent acne breakouts, but it is milder and therefore consumers are less likely to see immediate results.
11. Why do I feel / see a white film on my skin with using Oil-Free Moisture?
The sunscreen in the formula is Titanium Dioxide. By nature of this ingredient, many people tend to see a slight “cast of color” that quickly dissipates.
12. Will I have the same product effectiveness if I use the products individually?
We recommend using the Cleanser, Toner and Lotion as directed for optimal results.
13. What make-up is recommended for use with Proactiv® Solution products?
We recommend wearing products that are non-comedogenic and oil-free. Try to avoid wearing make-up during strenuous exercise and avoid make-up with fragrances.
14. Can a customer use a DIFFERENT LOTION, instead of Repairing Lotion and still see results?
They may not see the same results by altering the system. We recommend applying a moisturiser over the Repairing Lotion, Preferably an SPF15 or higher, if going outside.
15. Why has Proactiv® Solution suddenly stopped working?
Acne is a cyclical problem that may last for many years with sudden flare-ups. Scientific studies have demonstrated that there is no bacterial resistance to Benzoyl Peroxide -- This means that the medications in Proactiv® Solution should always continue to work. Unlike other medications, including topically prescribed antibiotics, the active ingredients will not lose their effectiveness. It is important to use the Proactiv every day (twice a day) to help prevent future breakouts. If flare-ups continue, we suggest that you consult your dermatologist or health care professional.
16. Why would I breakout from Proactiv® solution?
If a breakout occurs when first using Proactiv, you may be sensitive to Benzoyl peroxide. If this happens, stop using Proactiv for two days. When your skin begins to improve, we suggest you resume with the Renewing Cleanser and Revitalising Toner daily. The Repairing Lotion should be used twice a week at night to slowly build a tolerance for Benzoyl peroxide. Increase nightly usage of the Repairing Lotion, as tolerated. If persistent redness or breakouts occur, stop using the product and consult your doctor.
17. Can Propylene Glycol, which is used in the Repairing Lotion, aggravate acne?
No. The Repairing Lotion contains very low concentration levels of Propylene Glycol, well below the threshold.
18. When do I use the Refining Mask?
Always start with a clean face before applying the mask. We recommend following with the Toner and Lotion.
19. Will the Refining Mask leave dark spots if left on overnight?
This may happen in cases where there is excessive drying or irritation to the skin.
