1. Can I use a 15% Glycolic Acid Moisturiser (i.e. Neostrata or Glyderm) with Proactiv® Solution?
Yes, it’s okay to use a Glycolic Acid Moisturizer in conjunction with Proactiv® Solution for the red marks and skin discoloration. The product should be applied over the Repairing Lotion.
2. What is Cellex-C and is it used in Proactiv?
Cellex-C is the name of a skin care brand that utilizes vitamin C based products. Cellex-C is not an ingredient used in Proactiv.
3. Can I use Silicone Sheets for facial scarring (i.e. large and small, dark brown patches)?
We do not believe that Silicone Sheets will help heal or fade scarring, nor do we suggest using them in combination with Proactiv.
4. Can I use Proactiv® Solution if I’m using Benzomycin Gel, Benzoyl Peroxide gel, & Oral Erythromycin?
Yes, however, always consult a healthcare professional before taking more than one medication at a time.
We suggest using the products in the following order:
- Use the Proactiv® Solution Renewing Cleanser and Revitalising Toner.
- Use the Proactiv® Solution Repairing Lotion instead of the Benzoyl Peroxide gel.
- Continue to use the Benzomycin Gel and Oral Erythromycin.
- The use of more than one medication at a time may increase skin dryness.
5. Can Proactiv® Solution be used in conjunction with Accutane?
No other treatment is needed while on Accutane, as it is one of the strongest prescription medications for acne. It is for severe acne, has side effects and is not a cure. The use of more than one medication at a time may increase skin dryness.
6. Can Proactive be effective with prescription for Prednisone, which is causing acne problems?
Yes.
7. How does Proactiv® Solution compare to Retin-A? Can Proactiv® Solution be used with Retin-A?
Proactiv® Solution is completely different from Retin-A. While some people have shown success using Proactiv® Solution with Retin-A, we strongly suggest that you consult your healthcare professional before using more than one topical acne medication. If using the system in combination with Retin-A, we suggest the following steps:
- Introduce Proactiv® Solution slowly (every other day) so the skin can get used to Benzoyl Peroxide.
- Alternate the two products by using the Repairing Lotion during the day. Use Retin A at night after the Renewing Cleanser.
- Avoid using Proactiv® Solution and Retin-A at the same time (layering the products).
8. Can Septra (an antibiotic) be used with Proactiv?
Yes. However, we strongly suggest that you consult your healthcare professional or physician before using more than one topical acne medication.
9. Can Proactiv® Solution be used at the same time as Depo-Provera birth control shots?
Yes. Proactiv® Solution will not lessen the effectiveness of these contraceptives, unlike some oral antibiotics, often used for treatment of moderate to severe acne.
10. Can Proactiv® Solution be used with Differin?
Yes. However, we strongly suggest that you consult your healthcare professional before using more than one topical acne medication.
11. Can Proactiv® Solution be used in conjunction with Tetracycline?
Yes. However, we strongly suggest that you consult your healthcare professional before using more than one acne medication.
12. Will Proactiv® Solution work on acne that is caused by immunal suppressive medications, such as Prenisone, Cyclosporing or Immuran?
Positive results will vary per individual. However, we strongly suggest consulting your doctor before combining with other medications.
13. Could Proactiv® Solution be used with Kinerase, prescribed for someone who had laser surgery?
Yes. Proactiv® Solution can be used with Kinerase, but you must wait for a period of time before using, since Proactiv® Solution is medicated and might irritate the skin. We suggest:
- Use Kinerase lotion when skin feels dry and tight.
- Use Proactiv® Solution and Kinerase Lotion at opposite times of day.
- If you want to use both then you need to wait about 20-30 minutes after applying the Repairing Lotion and then proceed by applying the Kinerase lotion.
