Between the ages of 14 and 29, not a day went past that I didn’t have pimples and to me they’re very unattractive and they give the impression that a person is unhealthy, but it’s not necessarily the case. I spent a lot of time in customer service and to put my best face forward I actually found that I was hiding my pimples behind my hair by wearing my hair down to cover up the pimples and I’d also used very heavy foundations and concealers. I consider myself as a quite a strong character, but having pimples does always put a hole in your soul I would say. You don’t want them. You despise them. They always come when you don’t want them. If you’re going to have a wedding or you are going out to a formal, the last thing you want, and that’s always when you get your worst breakout. So, pimples have affected my life, but I have managed and I do feel very sorry for all of those people that have had severe cases, far worse than mine, and that’s why I want to give this message to help other people to be able to find a solution like I did.
Before Proactiv, I felt that there was never going to be a solution for me. I thought that I would grow out of the pimples in my teenage years and that just was not the case. I was actually on a holiday with my sister and we happened to be in a shopping mall and we saw the Proactiv stand and I said to her, “Gee, I’d love to give that product a try.” And she said, “Well, what if I buy it for your 30th birthday?” because it was six weeks leading up to my 30th birthday and I thought, well if that works, that would be the best present I could ever imagine.
So she did buy me the product and I was so excited to use it. I took some before photos, just to see, and I figured if it doesn’t work, I would get my money back. Three days later, the fire in the pimples had died right down. They were not as red as what they were. Within six days they had flattened, like the pimples weren’t as raised. And then, within six weeks I had no pimples left. There was some scarring. And in my birthday card that my sister gave me, for my 30th birthday, she wrote on the card to say, “You look more beautiful every day.”
