In cases where the customer experiences dryness, we recommend using an oil-free moisturiser; such as the Proactiv Oil Free Moisture with SPF 15.

In other cases, customers very sensitive to Benzoyl Peroxide may experience swelling irritation, redness or peeling. If this occurs discontinue use. If these symptoms persist consult a physician.

The customer may be sensitive to Benzoyl Peroxide, so we suggest the following steps:

• Stop using the products for 2 days. Resume if the skin is better.
• When your skin begins to improve, we suggest you resume with Cleanse - Step 1 and Tone - Step 2 once daily.
• Use Repair - Step 3 2x a week at night to slowly build up a tolerance to Benzoyl Peroxide.
• As condition improves, increase the number of nights for applying Repair - Step 3.
• If condition worsens, stop use immediately and consult a healthcare professional.

Yes, this may happen when using Benzoyl Peroxide and the effects are reversible.  The person may also be sun sensitive, so we recommend that they always use a sunscreen and limit direct sun exposure.

5. How do I test for allergic reactions? 15 found this answer useful

To test for an allergic reaction, apply a small amount of the product to the nape (back) of the neck or the underside of the neck at the jaw line for three days.

People who are allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide may experience red, itchy bumps in the affected area.  If no redness or irritation appears after three days of testing, you probably will not have an allergic reaction. If redness persists, discontinue using the product.  If redness continues after you have stopped using the product, consult a healthcare professional.

In some cases, a skin patch test may determine if you will have a reaction to topical sulphur.

Test application in a small area along the jaw line for 2-3 days. If you do not experience a skin reaction, continue with further application. For proper evaluation, we suggest that you consult your healthcare professional.

Individual results may vary, some people see results as early as 3 weeks, but on the average, visible results start within 6-8 weeks.

Many of our customers find that a complete clearing of their complexion takes anywhere from 3-6 months.  This is achieved through the recommended and consistent use (twice a day).  There is no cure for acne, but blemishes are controllable with continued daily use of products such as Proactiv.

Sulphur drugs are appropriately labelled sulphonamides. Please consult a health care professional before using Proactiv and ask your doctor to view the ingredient labelling on the package.

Proactiv does not cause wrinkles. Wrinkles are caused primarily by sun exposure, facial expressions, and loss of facial fat. We suggest use of a good moisturiser and sunscreen, applied 5-10 minutes after applying the Repair - Step 3.
